Project presented for the National Preliminary Contest - Villa Alemana Sports Park , convened by Huerfano Arquitectos, and financed by FONDART.

The main idea of the proposal is based on the topography of the land, both in its natural shape of slopes and terraces (which give order to the design), and in its built form (which seeks to provoke an appropriation of the identity of the park by the citizens).

 

Thus, the proposal takes advantage of the flat land to locate the sports venues, and in turn generate a large circulation of articulator walk along the edge of the slope, causing a situation of constant relationship when touring the park. To this layout are added secondary circulations intended for the sports proposed in the program, which generate a constant cross between athletes and visitors throughout the intervention. At these points, tombos or "places of sports-citizen appropriation" are generated, which appear as viewpoints along the route.

 

Each building proposes an appropriation of the plan that the land gives it and as a whole they seek to alternate recreational uses with high-performance sports, in order to cause a constant flow of encounter between both users. Identifying the potential of transforming the material into a fundamental element of the proposal (and that in turn grants a character and identity to the project); A construction system for a barbecue is proposed: a filled and stuccoed steel structure with earth.

 

With this, the aim is to develop the sports park as a social and integrating space for the commune, which values an identity of construction on land that has lost its place. In addition, it seeks to generate a strong appropriation and strengthen community life, finally transforming the maintenance strategy into a cultural act and an instance of social encounter.
